Part Six - Whitefish to Bozeman
Got up to another beautiful day, hopped on our clean shiny bikes, and hit road construction not 5 miles later. The multiple gravel sections weren't bad, we just spaced out so flung rocks wouldn't hit man or bike. What sucked was that some genius has decided one downhill section needed a good soaking to keep down the dust. The water on the gravel was ok, but the runoff continued down the pavement for a good quarter mile, coating the road with a slick mix of fine dust suspended in a slurry. Slick, and it sprayed all over the bikes, quickly drying to a concrete like layer. Thanks. Couldn't even see if my brakelight was on or off..
Bozeman to Yosemite - no pics. More of the same long roads, except this one followed a river and had long sweeping turns. We did lose each other, though. We all stopped at a Harley dealer, as my rear turnsignals were slowly disintegrating, actually crumbling away. I didn't find any there (not surprising), but we got our wires crossed and we headed for the highway while the R1 headed south. We got hooked up again, though, and he got to ride at high speed for a while to shake out the boredom from yesterday's ride. Got a motel in West Yellowstone to prepare for our ride through the park.
