After checking out the bike park-to-be, (see last post), I decided to check out a classic Seattle park... Gasworks.
Gasworks Park is a defunct natural gas processing plant on the North Shore of Lake Union. Instead of tearing it down, the city made a park out of it. Some of the more dangerous pieces are fenced off, but you can wander amongst immense tanks, piping, pistons and huge cast pieces of machinery from a generation ago. Many hatches have been pulled off, you can peek inside at con rods 10 feet long. All surrounded by grassy fields and a mounded hill, perfect for kite flying.
Our little dog, Riley, has lots of places to explore.
The view looking south toward downtown Seattle...
We stopped at a local brewery, Hales Ales, for lunch and a few drinks. Ended up with a sampler of all the beers they produce. Favourites were their "Red Menace"HSB, "Drawbridge" Blonde Ale, and their seasonal Nut Brown ale. A good day.
