These guys showed a completely clear rim at Sema's car show recently, it's made of 2 inch thick lexan, much like the bulletproof windows at banks. Interesting idea, but I think the brakes would end up melting the plastic.

Also, imagine how dirty these would get from road grime and brake dust. Should've included a set of four tiny windshield wipers to keep them pretty.
