Went snowshoeing last weekend. Rented the gear at R.E.I., drove up into the mountains. Found a secluded piece of land, started breaking trail through the wet, heavy snow. Our Bichon, Riley, was long overdue for a haircut. Problem. His long fur, the wet snow, and the fact we were off-trail all added up to snowball creation. His underside and legs continually grew these baseball-sized balls of snow, impeding his progress as he couldn't bend/move his legs right, and the weight was pulling him down. Cruel and funny. We cut the hike short, and as you can see, I carried him for a bit to allow some loosening of the accumulation. A good day.
