More random pics from our camping trip... I should mention not all of these pics are mine, Jenn's quite the photographer, and she was kind enough to burn her weekend pics and send them to me. So, if it's a really nice image, it's probably hers. Like the ancient hydrant she found below....
Went on a little side trip, followed a small river that empties into the Columbia upstream for a bit. Caught a glimpse of people on a primitive trail on the opposite side of the river valley. Found a rough dirt track that led us down to the river's edge...
The river narrowed and deepened, cutting its way through the rocks.
Noticed poles appearing and disappearing upstream, went to check it out. Found these rickety platforms cantilevered out over the rapids, the fishermen were dipping these long, 40 foot poles into the water. The poles were tipped with a net, roughly 4 feet round. They were hoping to catch steelhead. None while we were there, but their technique was impressive, the delicacy as they manipulated the long poles at odds with their precarious positions.
Riley, our Bichon, got thouroughly wet and muddy, and was therefore banished to the cargo area of the CR-V.
